Has anyone tried this amp? It maybe just what we need at home to play along to backing tracks. I know it does not look like a vox ac30 but how long will it be before vox bring out their version with all the vox amp types. It could be a winner for home practice. Have a look at the demos on the net....

It looks good, but, the Fender G-DEC 3 does it all and more and I think for less money, the 15 watt version under £200 although not valves, the 30 watt is gigable in small venues but plugs into PA if needed.

Load your backing track, amp model, effects to a patch (100 of them ) hit play and it's ready to go time and time again.

I would recommend a Fender Super Champ XD. You can often pick them up second hand at a good price even though new they are not expensive.

You have played through mine at Seaford (mic'd up through the PA) but for home use it is fantastic. I posted a couple of sound files as demonstration.

As Terry says, my vote goes to the Fender Superchamp XD too. It's a 15W 1 x 10" combo, very lightweight to carry around & has a really good selection of amp models & effects. The chief advantage though is that it is also an all valve combo (Pre-amp & power amp), although 6V6s not EL84s. It is ideal for home practise, rehearsals & small gigs etc., & can also be DI'd directly into a band's PA via the LIne out socket for bigger gig venues. No more lugging heavy combos or stacks for me. Certainly not at my age, thank you very much. I got mine about three years ago brand new for around £200, but I believe prices have increased a bit since then; probably to around £270. Still good value for a small valve combo with all those features though, & Fender's good name to back it up.

This Fender is £218 from Rimmers Music ("Rocking Rooster") today. I was considering it last year but eventually went for the Epiphone Valve Special - a mistake I think! It was secondhand and is completely gutless! Not just volume. The effects also don't seem to work. It needs a techie to check it out, but I haven't had the incentive to bother yet! I think it cost about £100 off fleabay - can't be bothered to look though!

Thanks for the replies. Yes the fender super champ xd is very good along with some other combos for home use and miked at bigger venues. But this yamaha has been designed to give a very good sound/tone at lower volumes. Also the stereo amp is great for backing tracks ,and the balance between guitar and backing is easily adjusted. The yamaha is advertised as your third amp,a good sounding practice amp. I just thought it could be good for players looking for a good sound at home. Ken..

Its a great amp however
Does anyone have a THR Editor patch or can they advise the best settings for the Gain, Master,Bass, Middle, treble, effect, delay/revb ...
Failing which same question for the VOX AD15VT
Playing through American strat and 1958 Les Paul

Any ideas to get that Hank sound generally would be appreciated.

I used to have one of these little amps namely the THR 10.
From personal experience it was good for some Shadows stuff i.e. using
a Strat mid /p/u , It gave some of the "barky tone" on some of the early numbers.
Cant offhand remember the settings used.
Only ever used the clean and lead channels as the Hi Gain and distortion not to my
taste.
Certainly powerful for its size and flexible sounds if a little boxy at times.
