I love the subtitle, The exciting sounds of Kevin Peek and his Synthesizer Guitar! It was a different age!

It's a great album, sounds very much like a mixture of John Williams' Travelling, The Hank Marvin Guitar Syndicate and Sky. I love the way the album's title suggests the point at which the guitar and the synthesizer meet.

Kevin Peek was one of the best players I ever heard and saw...

He was a local boy where I live in Adelaide, South Australia, and I went and saw him play in his band every week for a few years- I learnt more about playing guitar, strumming and fingerpicking techniques, use of substitute chords, creating guitar solos etc from watching him than anything else (I was about 15 and starting to learn to play when I first saw his band in 1964/5- he was so good even then that I was inspired to keep going and learn more, rather than saying 'I'll never be that good' - and giving up!))

He could play in any style and read music- staggering talent, but he died such a sad death...his questionable business deals got him into trouble financially and he was about to face court when he died from cancer a few years ago...he should have stuck to being a musician and not a businessman...

True. An extremely talented man.

I had a very, very enjoyable chat with Peter Lyster-Todd (Sky's former manager) last year and he spoke in such glowing terms about Kevin. I think everyone really liked him and were so shocked and saddened at the way things went...

The more I listen to this album, the more I like it. It is, I suppose, fairly typical of the kind of solo/library stuff that the various members of both Sky and the Shads were doing at this point (1977), but is all the better for it! Speaking of musos; the credits are quite sparse on the album sleeve and there is virtually no indication as to who else is playing. I’d guess that John Fiddy is on keyboards, but I don’t recognise any of the other names as being musicians that have come into my sphere of consciousness. The bass guitar DOES sound very much like Alan Jones and the drums have that Clem Cattini/Harold Fisher/Brian Bennett feel to them. But this is just guesswork. A great album with some really good tunes and excellent playing. I’m adding the other half of the front cover and a close up of the English sleeve notes. I just wish they hadn’t put that sticker right over Kevin’s face!

He didn't need a synthesiser back when I saw him play!

I remember on a local TV variety Tonight show, would have been about 1967/68- he played a an acoustic electric nylon string Gibson Bossa Nova guitar, with Alan Tarney on upright bass and Trevor Spencer on drums- they played Dave Brubeck's Blue Rondo A La Turk...KP played all the sax and piano parts fingerstyle on the guitar....
