He was a local boy where I live in Adelaide, South Australia, and I went and saw him play in his band every week for a few years- I learnt more about playing guitar, strumming and fingerpicking techniques, use of substitute chords, creating guitar solos etc from watching him than anything else (I was about 15 and starting to learn to play when I first saw his band in 1964/5- he was so good even then that I was inspired to keep going and learn more, rather than saying 'I'll never be that good' - and giving up!))
He could play in any style and read music- staggering talent, but he died such a sad death...his questionable business deals got him into trouble financially and he was about to face court when he died from cancer a few years ago...he should have stuck to being a musician and not a businessman...
