About 10 years ago, there were two major suppliers of imported MIJ/CIJ guitars, one was John Blackman (Far East Guitars) and the other was a guy in Edinburgh. The guy in Edinburgh had a lovely selection including Sunburst, Mary Kay and Fiesta Red strats. I know a few members here bought guitars from Edinburgh, but here's the question, can you remember the guys name who sold them?

"Peter Cook's Guitar World" still exists and is still trading - though in West London (never Glasgow as far as I know).

I bought my Gretsch 6122 from them.

I have a few friends who some years ago bought "made in Japan" Fender guitars directly from Ishibashi Music in Japan, but as far as I know, they don't export them anymore because of a Fender Japan ban on exports.

I bought a fiesta red strat from mijfenders.com, based in Edinburgh, in 2007. The letter that came with it was written by Jon Clark. Hope that helps!

I found my 2007 correspondence with him too, Alan, but his website http://www.mijfenders.com is no longer active and his eBay name jonstrat666 is not in the member list.

I assume he is no longer trading.

That's sad news if that's the case, I bought a Mary Kaye style Premium Strat from Jon and Derek our bassist bought his red precision from him shortly after. Great instruments and a very helpful guy. :)
