Revelation Guitars

Postby Rover » 04 Nov 2015, 12:56

Hi, I have been looking at Revelation Guitars on their website. There is a strat type guitar in fiesta red with gold hardware. The pick ups are Alan Entwistle. I had never heard of them before and just wondered if anyone on this site has any experience of them. Your comments would be appreciated.
thanks in anticipation, Rover

Lots of info on these on the net, most of it pretty favourable. They produce a wide range of models many of which are copies of classic and iconic guitars. The Entwhistle pickups are a positive feature.

You'll find my review of a Revelation bass here

and the quality seems to be maintained across the range, so you should have no problems if you choose to buy the Stratocaster clone.

I've been a bit of a fan of Alan Entwistle's guitars since he designed the Alden range about ten years ago and have built up a small collection (at no great cost)

The Revelation bass is at the front on the left.
Clockwise from top left are the Alden TV Cruiser DLX, Resonator, Corsair, Jazzcaster, Mandolin and TV Cruiser bass.

Alan Entwistle is well-known as a designer of pickups, including the Burns Noiseless.

I always fancied a Jazzmaster with the block inlays but could never afford one. I bought this brand new from a local music shop . They were selling them on their Ebay store for £199-00 or make an offer so I went to the store and got it for £170-00. Excellent value. Lovely neck, decent pickups, good finish. Whats not to like at that price.

I purchased a Revelation 12 string Jazzmaster shape in white. Has block inlays etc. I think I prefer the sound to my Double Six sounds a bit janglier. Certainly lighter and feels comfortable

I tried a set of Entwistle AS-60s in a Squier Strat I bought a few months ago and found them to be a bit bland and nondescript. Lacking in definition.

Replaced the with a set of standard Squiers which had had their ceramic magnets and steel polepieces removed, and replaced by alnico V slug magnets. Sounded much better.
