Does anyone have a G&L ASAT ?

My friend wants a Telecaster and I was wondering whether the G&L ASAT was a better deal that the Squier Classic Vibe.
I have the Classic Vibe 50s one and it's good, but I've never seen the ASAT in the flesh so to speak. He wants the '62 style sunburst with rosewood board. My G&L S-500 is much better than the already excellent Classic Vibe Strat and I wondered if the differences are apparent between the Tele models.

The only thing to bear in mind is there are 10 different ASAT models and I am not sure what the MFD pickups would sound like as the tone controls are not same as S500. They do an Alnico version and a 3 pickup variant a bit like a strat layout. UTube might help you decide but someone said the MFD PUs lack the essential sparkle associated with a Tele.
