I also have one of those Jap '62 Custom, bound-edge Teles in Sunburst. I was a bit concerned when I bought it that the Texas Specials would make it a bit too 'Hot' for my kinda music, but I was pleasantly surprised. It really is a nice guitar with some real Fender twang & a superb finish and classy tones. It's certainly a step up from your average budget & standard ranges & & well worth the £500 I paid for it new about ten years ago.
I do get a chance to play my Teles, as I mainly do Rhythm & backing vocals ( occasional Lead vocal). It is nice to be able to go out with something that isn't the usual Strat/Burns Marvin round your neck. The only thing I miss about changing to Tele playing is the comfort of those Strat contours, which really make a difference to me.
Tony.
