Double Six case or gig bag

Having now unexpectedly acquired a Burns Club Series Double Six - minus case, which prompted some haggling over the price - I am now considering how best to keep it safe and clean.

It doesn't need to live in a case, so a gog bag might suffice, but the shape and elongated headstock are giving me some cause for thought. At the moment it is in a simple bass bag which is quite a snug fit but doesn'r have any pockets for leads etc. As it's not going to be heavily used, I'm looking for something relatively inexpensive...

Any sharing of experience, advice or recommendations welcome.

I was in a similar situation to you when I acquired my Double Six some years ago and mine was kept in a bass gig bag for a while until a friendly and helpful member here (aren't they all?!) sold me a Burns Hiscox case for a very reasonable price so I was well pleased. A bass gig bag is adequate in the short term and many have useful storage pockets and in the meantime a search of Ebay, etc should find you a suitable case. Kinsman do a good range of hard foam cases. My Burns Bison lives happily in one. Be sure to check the measurements!

Gator hard cases quite good value for money.
I picked one up on either Amazon or Ebay? for £52 inc delivery for a Squier Jazzmaster.
Gators website does a measuring service if you know its size dimensions

All useful stuff, thanks. My good friend Big Eddie (who comes from Greenock but sometimes pretends he's from Glasgow) has offered the use of a cupboard in his house, which is not quite as helpful as the other comments...

No secret, Noel. It just happens when a friend (not Eddie I hasten to add) texts to say - for example - 'There's a Burns green Double Six in the window of [insert name of store] and it's £[insert price]. Then there's a bit of hand-wringing and teeth gnashing until the Domestic Administrator says 'Oh, go and look at it for goodness sake...'

My philosphy used to be that it is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission... until the time a courier delivered a guitar a day earlier than I expected. In the present instance, Mrs G. got on the same train as me and sat down opposite me, or rather sat down opposite a suspiciously guitar-shaped package. My assurances that I *had* tried to phone were greeted with a degree of disdain and a reminder that I had said 'no more' after last year's Bass VI.

I bought a Club Double Six without case some time ago, and after trying several alternatives, I contacted Burns Of London and got a brand new case from them. It cost around £80/90, but the guitar fits in perfectly, and there is a "glove box" for leads and strap etc.
