Zoom G3 Questions

Postby bridev » 07 Jan 2015, 22:39

Can anyone help me out please?
Dave has kindly sent me some of his patches and he has been very helpful getting me started, as has another member. The problem is they won't load into the user area and he has suggested that I ask here as it has been a while since he shared and can't remember how he did it for others.
I have noticed the original patches have a yellow file with "G3 edit and share patch group" on the file while Dave's are just the usual brown zipped folder. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Also Is it possible to copy just one or two patches from a patch group into the unit rather than copy the whole lot and if so how do I do it?
I am not great with this kind of thing so please feel free to treat me as an idiot

Cheers
Brian

Hi Brian,
you can copy each single patch from the library by right clicking the patch and will give you the option of "copy" which you left click on and then left click into the user area and select where you want to paste the file, ie; A1 or J9 or any other that you would not need. Select right click on that patch then select "paste" and the patch will paste into place.

Hi Brian,

Dave also sent me these patches when i 1st got my zoom G3X, it's been a while since i loaded them onto my unit so can't fully remember either. However i did write all the individual settings, to each patch and song, down, so i could save them manually without using the computer if i lost them or accidently deleted them.
To give you an example Apache, in sequence of effects is....
1) TAPE ECHO
Time 330
F.B 0
Mix 46
HiDMP 5
Level 100

2) TAPE ECHO
Time 121
F.B 0
Mix 50
HiDMP 5
Level 100

3) COMP 1
Sense 4
Tone 6
Attck slow
Level 100

4) THROUGH

5) HD REVERB
Decay 17
Tone 7
Mix 31
Pred 72
HPF 7
Level 100

6)MOD DELAY
Time 510
F.B 0
Mix 32
Rate 21
Level 100

Try to keep them in this order, as i believe this is the way Dave intended them.
I will ask Dave if he minds me sending you these in this way, if he doesn't, and it would help you, i will copy the rest out for you in the same way as i've done this. Let me know if it's helped you.

Cheers

thank you Derek and Ryan.

Derek
That has helped a lot and I can now get my head around it. Thank you for all your help

Ryan, The way you have laid the settings out is fine and I can understand. Dave did send me the patches but for some reason they wouldn't load into the unit.
I asked Dave for advice and he suggested I ask for help on here as he couldn't remember how to do it. Please feel free to ask Dave but I am sure he won't mind.
it is kind of you to take the trouble. Thank you.

Cheers

Hi Brian

I too got the patches off (thanks Dave)

I saved them to the desktop and opened edit and share and then drag a patch into the user area (any bank and number you don't mind overwriting) and resaving just for security

you mentioned at the start of this htread that the folder was a "zipped" one.
I assume you have unzipped the folder as this is the only way you can properly access the contents.
Once you have done its actually quite easy to copy them over to the zoom edit prog by just dragging the individual files from the folder to the edit and share page or, if you wish, you can copy and paste.
Also, make sure the zoom unit is plugged in to the usb socket on you pc.

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply. I thought I had unzipped them but obviously not. I think it may be sorted now so I will try again asap.
Thank you for your help.
