I think that most of what we get from manufacturers these days is simply hype to sell products & fool customers into thinking that they are getting something special. This includes amps & guitars. One of the silliest is the 'Fashion' for Relic instruments. They bash up a perfectly good instrument & charge you 50% more for wrecking it. I'm not saying that they aren't good quality players, but to try to hide the fact that it was made last year & not lovingly gigged for the past 50 is virtually a deception. What will happen when the purchasers decide to sell the instrument on ? Will they try to convince a buyer that it's a genuine vintage instrument from the 50s/60s ? ..... who knows ?
Anyway, I put my trust in modern manufacture of brand new instruments, which are made to better, more accurate tolerances, & are more consistent in their quality. What's the difference between say, a Mex 'Classic series' Strat & a Mex 'Roadworn' Strat ? One of them looks like it was found in a skip !
