Noisy AC Tone

Hi All, I'm running Guitar -compressor-AC tone-etap-Amp, but am getting 'white noise' even when i don't use the compressor, any idea's please, totally clean when using bypass

Hi Keith

Take out one piece of equipment at a time and find out which one is causing the noise
that's usually the best starting point

The eTap is a computer in essence, and all sorts of radiation is generated. Perhaps your AC tone is picking it up...

Keith I find the eTapHW2 to be noisy and the most likely culprit. I recently put together a new pedal board and the only way I could get rid of the eTaps noise was to put it before another pedal or two. Only other solution might be a noise gate. I have tried a few different power supplies and now using the 1spot which comes recommended but it is still noisy. Mine is the Stanley Effects pedal. I also had another unit on my board which was producing noise when connected via the 1Spot which fed power to all the pedals and I could not get rid of the noise on that other pedal until I put it on it's own PSU. Sometimes it is a workaround.

My Joyo ACTone is quiet though.

Hi Keith,
I have an AC TONE and my one is quiet and I use an E-TAPhw. Try putting the AC TONE last in the chain after the E-TAP then into the amp.
The AC TONE is basicly an amplifier tone stack so you should treat it like the first control on your amplifier.
Also if you have the treble turned full up it will increase white noise. Try setting the Bass, Middle and Treble to the 12 o/clock position and fine tune from there.
