A friend told me about a Squier 60th Anniversary Classic Vibe 50's strat MN in Aztec Gold. Wondered if anyone has any experience of this guitar, are they any good? Any idea what year they came out? I'm assuming it was sometime after 2010 to now. Any idea of the best price for one new?
Cheers

They're great lookers & good value. My only criticism is purely aesthetic and applies to all Squier 50's Classic Vibe guitars. That ugly, thick slab of a scratchplate looks so out of place and why Fender didn't choose a more period-correct, single-ply thick & non-chamfered version puzzles me. I'm a bit picky so would probably swap it out for a different one if it was me.
I know that guitar factory QC has come on in leaps-and-bounds of late, but I would still advocate checking out the stock/prices in a local guitar shop, rather than just trying to squeeze the last few quid saving by shopping on-line. Best price isn't always synonymous with the best deal. If you're unfamiliar with the particular model you're interested in, you can't beat being actually able to handle & play it before you buy. Retailers are aware of the internet competition these days and in my experience, most will try to come close to the best you've seen. It's usually not too difficult to get some new strings included FOC in the deal as well. Plus, if you need any warranty service, it's easier & less hassle to drop it into your local shop than arrange, pay for and entrust to a courier.
Don't know where you're located, but where I am in the Colchester area, there are several fantastically well-stocked shops and their prices in the main, match the internet. I'm not buying any more guitars but still like to have a nose around all the gear from time-to-time and buy some strings & other little bits & pieces.
I think it's a sensible concept to try & support the independent retailers if possible. Be a shame if the high street guitar shop disappeared completely.
