Kinmans for G&L Legacy

Postby Goingdownslow » 07 Nov 2014, 07:50

hi everyone.....I've just put the G&L Alnico V pickups back on my USA Legacy....I replaced them a long time ago, with EMGs to get a quiet guitar for gigging.....I now have a true single coil passive sound but with the noise problems that made me change them all those years ago.....so.....I am thinking of buying a set of the Marvin FV-HMS Kinmans,......the question is will they drop in on the existing G&L wiring all ok as the Legacy has a different circuit to a standard Strat.....One Volume and Bass and Treble controls....Pots are a bit odd as well...250k Vol....and 500k and 1 meg for the tones....
Help!...
Cheers, Paul....

I do not think Kinman's will be a problem in a Legacy circuit as Dave Robinson has put a G&L circuit in a strat scatchplate fitted with Toneriders I believe and got good results that he is pleased with. The Kinman's will be fuller sounding and replicate Hanks modern fatter sound so just be minful of that. I think the bass control wll take care of any excessive lower end fullness though but you will not have the full highs of a vintage PU.

For the vintage Shadows sound the Kinman 54 Impersonators are better
