The final version of the Baldwin Marvin employed the large 'Bar Magnet' single-coils as standard, with the scratchplate being amended accordingly. Presumably this was due to depleted stocks of Rez-O-Matiks or maybe because Baldwin simply decided to rationalise the range still further! The appropriately modified Marvin consequently may not have looked as much like Hank's, but it actually still sounded pretty good, courtesy of those big and beefy pickups. The auction example has been subjected to a few subsequent changes, with the John Birch-fitted maple fingerboard being the most obvious, apart from the Burns-branded treble horn scratchplate section of course. A new nut and a white refin are additional alterations, while the upper strap button has been re-positioned a couple of times.
