Hi

Anyone have any thoughts on this. I would love one but have a feeling it would become a money pit for servicing -if I could find anyone to do it ! -

Don't do it!....I have been a Binson user since the 70's and recently my main machine has thrown the towel in......mega expensive to fix and to be honest they were really good in their day but modern technology has provided alternative products that do the job better, more reliably and for far less money...
There is the nostalgia and snob appeal of the Binson but so far as what you hear is concerned then it's a different story.
Binsons can be temperamental, need looking after a lot, have limited delay time selection and even when working properly are a little hissy....
If you want multi tap echoes at sensible cost then the Catalinbread Echorec pedal will,do the job.....I bought one when my Binson died and haven't regretted it one bit.....

My feeling is that it should sound amazing and is the real McCoy, but as you have already said it would possibly cost money down the line. Would the audience appreciate it - I doubt it, would you get anymore work through having it - I doubt it.
Paul's advice is good, he should know he owns a Binson.

With what is already available in the Etap2, Zoom G3 and Charlie's fabulous new machine nearing completion to me it's a big No No. ;)
