Gilmour is a guitarist who creates parts within a piece of music. There are many far more technical players than either of them but I don't necessarily enjoy their styles of music.
I think it is unfair to state that no one is interested in Dave Gilmour( he's probably not too bothered about us ). It would appear however not many are praising his name piece Strat or think its good value. I don't think many of the Signature strats are value for money but money makers for Fender. It cannot cost much to make these mods particularly in the high tec factory a Fender have. Pity Fender don't do more worthwhile things for their customers e.g electronics like G&L
I said by the responses nobody is bothered - please don't misquote me.

OK, I'm sorry you're not reading what you would like to see. Obviously there are some people who have something to say about this guitar, but not enough to keep the thread alive. I'm not looking for an argument, I've have nothing further to add so I'm away.

Dave there was not a quote otherwise I would have highlighted and pasted. I referred to it as an indication that no one was interested from your response which didn't seem fair. Getting pedantic so I will not respond to this thread anymore.

Out of curiosity, I tried one of these strats. (spec wise)The relic which is over 4000euro is a 57 reissue painted black over sunburst with a toggle switch that adds a fat50s neck p/up to a ssl5 (bridge)or a cs69(middle) p/up.Thats it !..nothing else. If you or I really wanted one we could probably buy a second hand 57 reissue and do the mods and shitty paint job for about £1000 all in, However if Gilmours fans adore him as much as we adore Hank then I can understand people paying that sort of cash for a piece of the dream. No point in anybody getting their knickers in a twist over this,If we were in a pub discussing this we would all have a laugh.

Funny video that ! LOL
With regard to Dave Gilmore Strat sound I do believe it is nothing more in PUs that two standard sounding PUs and an over wound bridge PU with a Bridge / Neck switch and he has played several strats over the years including The Black Strat, his serial No 1 and that modern Red one from the 90s he had and he sounds very much like well Dave Gilmore. He plays GHS Bloomers I believe. The solo on Brick in the Wall is a stunner for my money as was the solo live version of comfortably numb. He is not a fast player at all but a great Phrase is often found in his playing built on mainly blues style playing I would say. I have the book called the Black Strat and it is nothing exceptional at all .... like we keep saying great players sound like themselves ! Pass me Tin hat
