Yes Dave I have and although very expensive I didn't find it anything remarkable. At the same time I tried a Squier Classic Vibe that was just as good. ;)

Hi Dave,
I'm with Robbo on this mater... nothing special on this guitar, a std MIM strat is on par with this strat.
I would go with a classic vibe strat, like Robbo wrote worth every penny !
The only thing I liked with the David Gimour strat was the case with the emerald green fur inside with the embroided customshop logo

Ah, I never saw the case. That might have been the deal maker. ;)

I would add that without question for me, the Eric Johnson Strat is the best value in the Artiste named ones. I've had one and it was a beauty, great feel and great pickups. I had to let it go as I needed money at the time, but I'd buy another. 8-)

I built my own Gilmour Strat by taking a MIM Classic 50's Stratocaster in black and adding a black scratchplate, a set of Kinman Woodstocks, the 'Gilmour' switch and a Callaham shortened tremolo arm. Sounded lovely and cost less than £575 (once I'd included what I got when I sold the parts I'd taken off).

What's a Gilmour switch Steve ? Don't remember any strange switch on the one I tried.

Yes. I know someone who owns one of these Custom Shop guitars and I have played it.

Even allowing for the fact that it was not set up to my specs (which are quite exacting on a Strat), I didn't find it in any way out of the ordinary. My guess is that most of the mojo for that model is in the black/maple colour scheme and the short tremolo arm.
