Looks like a good pedal, although you wouldn't know from the awful demos on You Tube where everyone has the repeat volume way up like some mad gone wrong U2...What gets into the head of some of these people? No wonder they aren't selling many! I'd have though this set up was just what you'd want with a delay pedal, but it's amazing just how many delay pedals have very limited features.

So if Hank used setting 9 on his Echorec, the same setting on the new pedal is at number 6 and it works great, especially with the vari speed, it employs heads 2 & 4.. :)

I reckon heads 3 & 4 give a decent overall echo, similar to using heads 2 & 3 on the old Copicat.
It's position 4 on the Catalinbread but position 7 on a Binson and Charlie featured that patch on his EFTP machines.

Here are two Catalinbread tests recorded by Jean-Claude in february 2013 :

Unfortunatly Jean-Claude left no indications about the settings he used, and he is no longer with us to give informations. But I know he increased a little "modulation" through the internal trimpot.

The Zoom MS50-G pedal you can see on the pic was used for some additional effects : a litte EQ, reverb and compression.

Jean-Claude Lair, who created with me the French Shadows forum in 2004 suddenly died in may 2014. He was 69.
I had announced the sad news at this time in the "People" board : viewtopic.php?f=24&t=10867

Has anyone compared the Catalinbread and Stanley eTap pedals?
I would be interested in any comments.
Cheers,

I haven't heard the eTap pedal, but I have had the original eTap2hw from Ecca before he built my valve job.
The eTap2hw delivers exactly the correct echoes for Shadows stuff where the Catalinbread will deliver 90% of them but give the guitar a beautiful tone which is down to something in the circuit. I like each of them and would happilly use my Catalinbread for the rest of my career if I had to, even though it isn't 100% right. Obviously the eTap is the main choice for out and out Shadows accuracy to the record. That said, ninety odd percent of punters wouldn't hear the difference. 8-)

Too true. I remember agreeing with Didier that all you need is 2 echoes; 1 for Wonderful Land and 1 for Apache.
