Great guitar... have accumulated a bit of a collection of Marvins myself.... my Shadows custom edition is numbered in the 20's... as new and cost around the £650 mark when I bought it on ebay about 5 years ago... perfect partner to my 2004 Marvin that I ordered from Barry the day they were announced... also numbered twenty something....

I have bought a couple of Legend de luxes on ebay as well.... same guitar but 100% UK manufacture and costing something like £4,000 today if you can get Barry to build you one.... yet none of these has cost more than £1100 (less than new cost 15 years ago) and been in near new condition.... they seem rather cheap to me and I cannot resist an amazing guitar at a silly price.

It seems the availability of the Chinese Marvin has slashed the demand and price for the older UK custom shop models that were made in very small numbers.... and likewise, all the original "limited edition" Chinese models from 2004 & 2005 have been undercut by the continued production of these models.....

Current new cost of a Chinese Marvin is in the £1300 range.... and they really are great guitars.but the price is a big jump from their cost just 5 years ago.... and second hand they seem to trade at half this....

Ryan,
It seems nobody saw your question about seeing members playing. Have a look at the Sound Files and Video Clips section and you'll find quite a few You Tube videos. If you live in the right place you might catch Dave Robinson and his band, Pastmasters, putting on a show somewhere. I travel to Nottingham frequently but I never seem to catch them, but I'd like to think that I will one day.
Cheers,
Len

Hi Ryan, I sold one three months ago for £870. There is one on ebay now at £1299. These guitars are top quality and I have missed mine, I made a mistake but I needed some cash.
I recommend a starting bid on ebay at £850 if this helps.

Don't know if it's any good Len, but Past Masters are at the Frazer Theatre in Knaresborough on Sat 26 July with Alan Jones joining us on bass. Failing that, were are in Gainsborough, Worksop, Grantham, Chesterfield in Oct/Nov this year.
We are not doing too many gigs as I am in recovery from a serious illness, but as I improve we will step up the venues. The best way to keep track is on our website www.pastmastersmusic.co.uk 8-)

Hi David, Thanks for that, will definitely have a look for you on soundfiles and youtube. I am 36, love all this style of music and all the other greats ie, Billy Fury, Cliff Richard, Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran and most of the 50's and 60's rock n roll stuff. May websites like this continue to thrive and keep the flag flying for this type of music, for many generations to come!
Cheers Ryan

The simple truth is that any guitar less than 30 years old is unlikely to realise even its original price, and when you allow for the effect of inflation, the gap becomes painfully wider. :o :o :o

The only possible case where this might not be the case is if you have a guitar with provenance (i.e. owned by a well known guitarist) :)
