Good luck with the H/C unit.

You are right- the Etap is very good and hard to beat !
You can hear the etap, we are not miked up for PA ( our AC 30 amps / only the drums had an OH mic and the bassdrum was miked ) - the clips were simply recorded with my iPhone 4 in front of the stage !

Gear: VOX AC 30 ( 69 vintage _ leadguit. ) / VOX AC 30 Classic ( rhythmguit. / greenbacks )
Squier HM sign. 1991 ( no modifications / stock PU ) / Fender MEX Strat ( rhythm. guit. )
BURNS HM ( 1964 orig. ) & early LEGEND
etaphw2 ( built by my friend Pancho from spain ) / NO EQ in between Guitar / etap & amp !
Fender Bass ( 1964 orig. )
BURNS Shadows Bass ( 1964 orig. )

Hi Hans, what a wonderful live sound you guys have. I too have an eTap2hw made (beautifully) by Pancho. I was wondering whether you would be kind enough to tell us your eTap echo settings for the various songs you play (in the eTap2hw section, of course). I think that I have found excellent settings, some of them I believe are spot on, and I would also be more than glad to share them, but it's always good to see what combinations other people have come up with, especially since the eTap2hw allows you to have more than just one single setting. For example, I have at least three great settings for Cosy, and there could be more. It's always fun to experiment and try to find the "exact" echo patch used by Hank on the recordings. 8-)

Anyway, as I said, you guys are really good and you have a great live sound!!

Regards,
Bojan

Hi Bojan,Try these settings for Wonderful Land = prog 4-mix 6-mode c/e-feedback 5, the muted section sounds very close.

Thanks Keith, I know that setting, and it's OK, and similar settings can be achieved on programs 4 and 5 (Long Tom and Echomatic II) for many songs (Cosy is a good example), but the only right setting for Wonderful Land is program 5 (Echomatic II), with the first three heads set at about 3 and head 4 set at around E+ or F (which is about 8 or 9) . . .

My setting for WL on the eTap2hw is: 5--3--F--6 (feedback can be 5, 6, or even 7). The muted section sounds spot on. Try it.

Setting the 4th head to F makes it louder than the first three, giving that tripping effect so characteristic for Wonderful Land (as well as Peace Pipe)

Bojan

I wondered where Robbo's old eTap went !
That's the one I built for myself, the very first one with a stainless steel enclosure.

I sold the original one you did for me to a friend who lives locally, he's over the moon with it and kicked his EFTP into touch.
I wouldn't know how to set it up now I have my dual valve jobbie. Different controls.

The settings are very close to those that I published two years ago, with slight adjustments here & there to taste.
I'm wary of posting settings as they are not written in stone. By and large, Apache, Frightened City, Man Of Mystery and similar are all on the first machine, either 0 or 1 depending on what it says on your knobs or clicker. All have some regen added except Apache which should have none.

For Wonderful Land, Atlantis, Kon Tiki, Savage, Dance On etc etc it's either setting 3 or 5. These are identical taps with different ways of controlling them that's all. If you use 3, the key is the choices you have on the 'head selection' knob as it varies slightly as you go from left to right. On 5 you use knob three to control heads 1/2/3 and knob four to control the last head which needs to be louder than the first three. I use selection 4 for Flingal Bunt, In The Mood and a few others.

You need to experiment and use your ears, no two are identical so some machines may require less on the controls than others. :)
