Hi Alan
Further to your reply re tremking. I would love to get a decent setup for some of my guitars. Unfortunately, I live in an area that has a dearth of any music shops that have the staff I would trust with my guitars. There was a guy not too far away who did a fantastic job on one my 1967 Hofner Club 70. He hasn't been active now though for quite a while. My collection is now almost out of hand (37 in number). I must start trimming it down and, concentrate on playing better.

Roger, if you look on the eTap2hw section of this site, Robbo has done a great list of settings for loads of Shadows tunes.
Whereabouts in the country are you ?

Hi ecca

I did spot the settings that robbo posted but, I am yet to relate them accurately to the knobs on the machine. One setting gives a level of 11 ? Not sure what that is. Unfortunately, as a carer, I am limited to short bursts of attention to my music(an elderly person takes a lot of time to look after). In the end, I will get there. I love music too much to let anything get in my way.
You asked where I live. I am unfortunate enough to live in a town called Yate, South Glos. It used to be a nice town but now, too many young people, too many, shall we say, non-British. Hey ho, that's life. Thank you for helping, it is very much appreciated, I assure you.

Roger, have you looked in the Club section ? You might have a Shadows Club near to you.
Robbo has a special echo with giant knobs on, for 11 just read 10 it's not that precise an adjustment, use your ears when you get near.

Thanks ecca. The nearest club I would think is the South Wales club. The problem is I have nobody to take over my duties. I used to be able to go to gigs and concerts but now, its out of the question. Never mind, I have seen many bands in the past inc the Shadows/Joe Brown/The Everly Brothers/Bill Wyman band etc. Maybe one day, I will have that freedom again. Goodness, don't I sound like a miserable old so and so?

Thanks Again

Hi Roger,

With regards to getting a set up there is a company who arrange collection and delivery for people like yourself
who do not have anyone local. If you google 12th Fret Guitar Repair you will find all the details there.

Best regards,

Maurice.

Thank you mojo. There is a music store about ten miles away but, to be honest, I just don't like the place. It is run by two heavy metal guys and, maybe I am being prejudging but, they seem to have an attitude towards us older players that leaves a lot to be desired. I will look up google and see what I can come up with.

Thanks again

Hi Again mojo

I found 12th fret and, their prices are very reasonable indeed. £30 for collection and delivery is a really good rate. I would be tempted to maybe have a bone nut fitted at the same time as a setup. I think I may have to give some thought to which one I have done though. I have several strats, each with its own unique personality(if that doesn't sound mad)? The Squier 50s classic's sound is great and, the 1985 MIJ Fender has a neck to die for. Others also have possibilities for becoming great guitars.
Oh well, I will sort something out. Thanks again for the information.

Kind Regards

Maybe this will help re Trem king
http://www.tyquinn.com/2009/tremking-review/
Khaler came up with a great fixed bridge tremolo in the Eighties. However as is often the case they accidentally infringed a FloydTom Rose patent ( to do with string locking) and they sank without trace. It also required some extra routing to the top of the body.
That said I have never had an issue with floating fulcrum Trem units.
I will also add that for anyone who wants to have their guitar set up by me at Oasis Music and can't get here I will happily arrange insured collection and delivery. I can even send you a box to put it in. I've done work for Hank and Bruce so I think I can be trusted.

Hi Howard

I bought my MIM Hank Marvin sig strat off you quite a few years ago and a vintage De Armond volume/tone pedal. Both still going strong but, I don't use the pedal that mush now. If you weren't so far away, I would bring my guitars for a setup. Unfortunately, I am a live in 24/7 carer and, just never get the time to do any trips to music stores etc. Ok, dry your eyes, I'm content to sit here playing my Hank strat  Maybe one day I will bring my collection for you for a setup(36 at the last count).

Kind Regards
