Hi All

Does anyone know anything about the PB Box from Patrice Bastien? I have just seen one advertised on ebay, never heard of them before but looks like they emulate the pre amp of a meazzi?

The PB box comes highly recommended from those who have heard it.

Allegedly - It's made of powdered unicorn horn and sprinkled with fairy dust and has been seen less often than the Loch Ness monster

Hi Steve,

I have a PB box, it was made to order by Patrice and was not cheap!!! It is designed to be hooked up to an Alesis Q20 or Q2. I have a Q20
The operating instructions are practically nil and so is very much trial and error.
I could not get my head around it so is now gathering dust.

Cheers Jim

The PB Box was the first available unit intended to give a vintage Shadows' Meazzi sound when used with a modern echo unit, the first version was designed in 2000, and an improved version with an ECC83 valve was introduced in 2004.

They were designed and built by Patrice himself to order only, hence the high price. As far as I know, he doesn't make them anymore. Instructions were available in french only, but I made a translation in English which I still have in my files.

I have once heard a comparative listening test of a PB Box + Q20 compared to a TVS3, and the results were very similar, of course the TVS3 is much more practical to use, but is also much more expensive.

Hi Jim, Is your PB box the one with the EC83 valve? If so, are you willing to sell?

Hi Stuart,
Yes it has the ECC83 valve and the extra toggle switch and range switch on the front panel.
I think it is the last model produced.
And yes I am willing to sell , as I said it is gathering dust so would rather see someone making use of it.
Make me an offer or send me a pm and we could discuss.
Cheers Jim
