Hard case for the Squier Bass VI...

Postby JimN » 22 Nov 2013, 18:35

If you've succumbed (or are about to succumb) to temptation in respect of the £275 Squier Bass VI, you might be wondering about a case or gig bag for it.

Gig bags do seem to have rather taken over, and even some lower-end Fenders and Gibsons now come supplied with them. Unfortunately, gig bags rely on the guitar's own structural integrity and will not protect the instrument from stress/strain damage like a hard case will, even if they will protect it from dings and scratches. If you want a hard case for the Bass VI, well... they're not easy to find. The official Fender item costs about $200 and then shipping, duty and VAT have to be added.

But... http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk can help.

Their shaped case (ref no BC450) for the Fender Jazz Bass (or copies) fits the Bass VI like a glove. It costs £44.99 plus £7 for UK next day shipping.

Yes looks to be an ideal case, however many people still waiting for a ray of Sunburst sunshine to fill it!!!
Estimates for delivery and availability are unclear, unless anyone else knows differently?

Thanks, Jim.

However, I find it easier to store rectangular cases than shaped ones... do you think the equivalent rectangular JB case would also work?

I expect so, George.

The website lists the same shaped case (BC450) as suitable for the Jaguar Bass as well as for the Jazz Bass, so presumably, any space which will accommodate a Jazz will accommodate a Bass VI.

I think they do a rectangular case at the same price.

Thanks, Jim. I reckon I'll go for the rectangular. It's in a cheap unpadded gig bag I used to bring it home, so it needs something much better.
