Entwistle pick-up

I've fitted Entwistle noiseless single coil pickups to 3 guitars now and they sound very good, aren't they what were fitted to the Burns Dream?

I certainly think they are as good as the Fender Noiseless, maybe voiced a little different - not better or worse just a little different, but my Kinmans are to my ears just a bit nicer, but of course a set of Kinmans is around £250 where as the three Entwistle set me back less than £60.

If I was in the market for more pickups it would be the Entwistles every time

Hi, I have heard that these are really good pick ups, but seem rather cheap especially when compared with Kinman. Does anyone know whether or not they can be fitted into a classic vibes 50's strat please, or do they only fit Burns guitars.

I'm very interested in the Jazzcaster pickup, but can't see it among the Entwistle items on ebay.

Where have you come across it?

they come with different pole spacing, but I've fitted them to a Parker P38, a Burns Marquee, and a Strat, they will certainly fit your Strat, they sound a little different to Kinmans, neither better or worse just a bit different.

To my ears Kinmans have a slight mid range hump, whereas Entwistles maybe have slightly more bass and top, but that could be the guitars.

Fender noiseless seem slightly flatter in response and maybe a little less gain than Kinman.

If money was no object probably Kinmans come out slightly on top but they are 4 times as much and certainly not 4 times better for me Entwistle are winners

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that they were available as a separate item, simply that Alan Entwhistle makes very good pickups. So far Alan Taylor is the only one who has heard it, but I think he was surprised at the range of tones available. The Fender Jazzmaster's rhythm circuit is replaced with three slide switches which control two capacitors and an inductance coil.

I had a short email exchange with Alan Entwhistle at the end of last year. Amongst other things, he said
"We may also have Entwistle guitars soon also (as i can no longer use the Alden name, it was registered behind my back, by the manufacturer!)".

I got the feeling that he doesn't really want to discuss Alden for that reason. He wants to create interest in the new items that he is involved in.

The Jazzcaster that I have was made around 2006. Although certain Alden models are currently being made and distributed, as here for example

there are no offset guitars amongst them.
