Oasis Music has for sale on its website a Shadows 50th Anniversary Strat stating it is one that was held back from the original issue for Hank to use if he ever performs again in the UK. Oasis say they have now been authorised to release it, so does this mean he will never perform in the UK again?

The Shadows 50th Anniversary Fender Stratocaster Limited Edition
Year of Manufacture - 2009
Serial Number - 53 of 54
Case - Tweed Hard Case and Accessories Included
Condition - Excellent This guitar is one of four which were not offered for sale and it has been in storage, with other equipment, since 2009 for Hank Marvin to use in the event of any further UK performances. It was fitted with the VML Total Tension system as per all of Hanks personal guitars. We have just been authorised to release it for sale. Some small signs of use were present, (no we can't say who has played it),and the guitar has been brought back to as new condition by Mark Presling of Fender GBI.
This guitar is consigned to us and the asking price is based on the provenance and the price achieved by recent sales of other guitars from this series.
Please email or call us on 01425 478135 for details.
Price: £10,000.00 (€12,000.00) (Including VAT at 20%)

Well I think that one is just a little more than I could really justify - although it looks fantastic and would be great for a collector.

I'm not getting anywhere fast in finding one. I am beginning to give more thought to the MIM models which you guys mentioned and I am sure are great guitars and I would be very happy with. It's just I have this mental block (my issue lol) that in my mind means I need a USA strat. And I have had both before so I should know better!!

There's a very nice looking 57 reissue in the right colour combination I have seen advertised at £325 but I am not really that sure of all the strat models - Fender seem to offer so much - especially in more recent years it's confusing. Was there a "'57 Reissue" as a model - MIM? Or is it just a strat made in Mexico that is the right colour?

mmmm... The search continues

Anyone got a Fiesta Red/Maple USA strat for sale around £500??

Well I live in hope -probably end up spending more but we'll see.

That not bad looking USA strat I was watching on eBay sold for £400. Right colour ad neck. California Series. It had wring pups but hat could have been sorted. I was tempted and did make an offer but owner to buy if he removed it from eBay - saving us all money but he was a but blunt in his reply so I left him to it!

There will be something comes along - or I will get too impatient and either buy
1. one of those nice 50's MIM strats £510 new - about £350 s/h (probably the sensible option)
2. A new deluxe - available in the right colours £1,200 ish new
3. A custom shop - in my local store at £1,999.

Hi Graham,
Like most people who play Shadows music a USA Strat is very much a treasured possession, however I think
that the guitar should feel right when you play it. Over the years I have played several guitars including many
USA Strats but my favourite by far is my Squier 50s Classic Vibe which costs new about £300.00. The way I look
at it is you can't see what is written on the headstock when you are playing so if you are comfortable with the
guitar then the label should not be a factor. (just my own opinion)

Hi Maurice - you are right of course. I need therapy....

But then again this guitar fascination many of us have is not entirely logical!!

Maybe it's God's way of telling you that you have too much money... ;)

Is that possible?

I keep hoping one will turn up!! At the same time I am being drawn towards there excellent 50's MIM strat's. I hear nothing but good about them and tbh I doubt if I could tell the difference if no-one told me!

We will see - but I know I will get SOMETHING this year.

Hi Graham,
For £800.00 you could buy a MIM 50s Strat AND a Squire 50s classic vibe

I was watching a Youtube review last night from Anderton's where they compared a Squire Classic Vibe, a MIM standard and a custom Shop Strat. The Squire came out really well - very tempting and they were extremely complementary about it. I didn't see it last night but have before where they did a follow up blind test - that was really interesting and possibly a little embarrassing for the high-end (cost) gear. I can't recall all the detail though. And these were by guys who work in the shop (own) and try everything all the time - they will have tried more guitars, more often, and for more time than most of us I suspect.

Well worth a watch

But as I said - my desires (for the moment) are not very logical!!
