I have said it many times throughout my existence on this community and each time the subject crops up more people smell the coffee - it was the change of amp to the Top Boost that was the big difference in sound, as found by many groups at the time who updated their Voxes.
Yes, the Burns guitars did arrive in the same time frame, but any Burns Marvin played through a Top Boost with those settings suggested by David Martin will give that distinctive 'naslal' sound, as would a Straocaster. Also a Burns will sound very similar to the 'old' sound used on Kon Tiki and the earlier tunes whe plugged into an ealy Vox amp and I would be delighted to demonstrate this with my current equipment. Trust me, there is no mystery to it.
