An unusual use for a Bass VI...

Don't know if anyone else is a fan of Ry Cooder, as I have been for years, but he divulged in an interview many years ago that he recorded his version of the Elvis Presley song 'Little sister' (on the Bop 'Til You Drop' LP) with a Bass VI with a capo 'way up the neck'.

I've got mine on order, expected late October / early November.

But did I see on this site some months back that Hank used one on a couple of numbers?

Merchant City Music had a white one on the wall this morning... Apparently the distributors can't keep up with the demand for sunburst...

Took possession of a squier today. (Merchant City Music)
The black version. My good lady was with me at the time...she didnt like the white one.
So, for a quiet life, I took the black one :)

BTW Jet must have recorded a few numbers with 6 string basses.
Any ideas which ones?

In the Decca days:

Besame Mucho
Man From Nowhere
Main Title Theme (Man With The Golden Arm)
Big Bad Bass

Since then, he's added various remakes of the above, but I'm not sure about other discrete tracks apart from Theme For A Fallen Idol.

And, I think,

Again

So we will have two VIs at the band rehearsal on Saturday, JohnM?

To be honest, black would have been no 3 on my list - if sunburst had not been available I'd have gone for white...
