And Roger, my Pod HD 500 sounds really good through my L1 Type II Bose. I only do about 4 instrumentals when gigging but one can insert 3 delay/tape echo type modules with the correct'ish timings and get results on a Shadows track. I'm not an 'anorack' but my ears tell me if it sounds good. I use a Custom Shop NOS Strat and the 500 sounds good under distortion too taking into account the pickups are all single coil. I use an ipad for my BT's and an app called 'Stage Traxx'. I also found a little program called 'MP3 gain' very useful for normalising the BT's before I put them into itunes.
I gave my Pod XT to an old friend but the 500HD with it's flexibility functions is significantly superior without doubt.

Yes Tony I have been putting 4 separate tape delays together and timing them up with some wow and flutter to get a reasonable simulation of a Shad echo.
Only problem I have had is because I have to use 4 echos and the amp/cab model and then several eq models and reverb, I have hit the DSP limit a few times ! Might resort to using the multi-head delay for the first two taps turning on two heads only and that would free up one. I saw a guy playing through a POD live in a Shadows band a few months back. He had a great sound and that was what convinced me to get the POD HD. I could of course just avoid the amp modelling and use the POD as an echo generator like the Magic stomp.

Getting a bit confused by all these numbers and letters. Which of the many Line 6 devices is it that you have bought Roger? There have been references to the HD and the HD500. I understand there's another 2 models in the lineup as well. Going for a wee lie down now...

Guitar (via Line 6 Relay digital wireless) - Alesis Quad GT - iPad(in dock) - Bose L1 compact. The Quad GT is in the
chain mainly for EFTP on Shads numbers, the rest of the time it is bypassed. To be honest, I could easily gig using only the modelling and effects in JamUp on the iPad. My BTs run from JamUp, too.

The sounds are excellent - better, in my opinion, than I was getting through my Pod X3 Pro, though that may be down to me making a better job setting up my tones on the iPad.

Here are a couple of pics ...

Hi Noel, after reading your posts I decided to purchase an alesis dock and it works very well, only problem I have is the sound of the guitar with the amp modelling distorts a lot of the time, any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm using the ac30 sim

Thanks

Steve, are you using JamUp Pro? If so, try backing off the volume on the slider control, top right when you're in the presets. You can also back off the guitar volume with the knob on the back of the iODock. Just means turning the amp up a bit to compensate.
Another thing with the iODock is that, sometimes, first time you switch the iPad on, you get a little crackle. To get rid of that, simply switch off and on again, one or two times. Let me know if you still have a problem because the way I am set up I get no distortion whatsoever.

Cheers

Hi Noel

Yes I am using jam up pro, great piece of kit but just can't resolve the distortion issue, will have another play and see what happens, certainly would make smaller gigs a lot easier everything in one nice little package.

I have the POD HD which is the kidney shaped desktop one the HD500 is the floor based unit. There are also the POD HD300/HD400 and the rack mounted POD HD Pro which is probably the ultimate one. As far as the HD500 and POD HD and HD Pro go they have the same set of models in effects and amps, but the Pro and HD500 have more in terms of connectivity. The HD300/400 have less models / effects and are cheaper floor units with simple displays and less effects routing.

I bought the POD HD for £250 reduced from its typical price of £350 a few weeks back and although it does not quite have the connectivity as the HD500 or PRO it had everything I needed at the right price.

Even the HD400 sells for well over £325 and the HD500 is well over £400 and the Pro even more so the POD HD seemed a great buy with most of the features on board.

Another thing to bear in mind is that the M class effects same as the M13 / M9 stomps units are built into these and the M13 is well over £400 making the POD HD a great buy yet again.

Hi Roger, I bought a Pod HD (bean) like yours, inspired by your enthousiasm.
I am trying to get strarted with my own user preset.
Where do I find a blank user preset that I can fill in myself?
The videos don't mention that.
When I turn the knob at the left of the display I only find factory presets.
Thanks.

Press the knob that says press for set lists chose a user set list with left right up down keys ans press enter key to load a setlist . User set lists are 5-8

In a set list use ABCD patch buttons to switch patches

Good luck and enjoy

Hi Roger, I wonder if you could get me started with some info on how to achieve a nice shadows sound,
starting with a blank user preset? I am thinking of the more exciting sounds like Man of mystery,
without wanting to be too specific.
Or a warm clean ballad sound would also be highly appreciated.
I hope I'm not asking too much of your patience/time...
