Is my resistance too low?

Postby Paulps » 05 Jul 2013, 16:18

Hi
I have a Peavey XR684F 2x200 watt amp with 2 Laney CT15 8ohm, 200 watt speakers. Can I use 2, 4ohm, 200 watt speakers without damaging them? I never get anywhere near full volume as I just use this at home for practise.

Hi Paul
The peavey xr684 is designed to run at 4ohms per side
so you can use one 4ohm speaker each side this will give you the full 200watts per side.
running the 8 ohm speakers one each side will give you approx 120watts .

just dont go below 4 ohms per side.
so dont use the 2 x 8 ohm speakers and 2 x 4 ohm speakers together.

hope thats helpful
regards
Jay
