Burns double six intonation

I'm not turning down offers of help, I'm just trying to find out if anyone else with a D6 has this same problem with the bridge position. It's the reissue Gotoh bridge by the way, not the original, don't know where the originals are positioned.

I have a Club Series D6. The front edge of the bridge is approximately 4mm from the back edge of the scratch plate and the top E saddles are approx 15mm back from the front edge of the bridge. The location of the bridge is determined by the position of the through body stringing thimbles though there may be some leeway here.

If the saddles cannot be moved far enough forward there are a couple of things to look at:

1) The saddle adjusting screws are not long enough. (Sorry! Bit obvious really but it had to be said!)
2) The pass through holes are trapping the strings preventing the saddles from going any further forward.

If the latter is happening, it may indeed mean that the bridge has been installed too far back. However, it may be possible to fix this, without visible damage to the guitar body, by removing the bridge and doing some careful redrilling of the base plate and modifying the saddles.

Although I haven't had any specific experience of GOTOH bridges or 12 string Burns, I have done others.
It looks as if modifying the saddles would be quite tricky on this unit.

Well guy's,
I've been doing a bit of research on the D6 bridge position and it seems the are all the same, also on the Marvin. Don't know how any of these guitars can give an in tune fretted note at the 12th fret compared to the open string harmonic to get accurate intonation. Beats me. Just been put off buying a Marvin. Think I'll stick with Strats.
You may want check this on your own guitars.

Every production Marvin (or Legend) from 1964 to the present day, irrespective of country of manufacture, plays and stays perfectly in tune, assuming a proper set-up and adjustment and no unreasonable demands in terms of over-light strings.

That is a fact.

I can get the intonation spot on at the 12th on both my Marvin and D6. The top E saddles on the D6 is are getting close to the limit of adjustment though. Just a thought - is the neck fitted properly? Not by any chance been removed at some time and screwed back on in the wrong place?
