I've had another majestic idea that works great !

The knob is a grand aid to violining, it's right there, at the fingertips.
The middle knob that was a tone control is now a 2 position rotary switch.
In position 1 the new knob is the volume control, the original volume control now being out of circuit. the bottom tone control is exactly that, the overall tone control.
In position 2 the new knob becomes the tone control, the original tone control now out of circuit and the original volume control reverts back to that ; the original volume control.
As a tone control the new knob becomes a very mild sort of wah wah.
Jolly blinkin good.
Except that I've lost a trem spring....... anybody coming to the Hankies tomorrow got a spare one please ?

and a capacitor for the tone.........
and some black screws......
(it's an old scratchplate that's why it's all... erm....,.scratched )

Great idea - pity you can't have it doing volume AND tone together to create the old DeArmond effect.

I've already worked out a circuit to do just that Noel.
I might run out of space under the scratchplate to get 2 pots in though.

Right, I'll have 2 push/push pots for vol and tone.
The vol switch selects either the existing pot or the new wheel pot.
The tone switch does the same so that you can have the vol and tone as normal or the wheel can be the vol or the tone or both.
Flexibule eh ?
Parts ordered.

Yep, works spiffingly Noel !
2 push/push pots for tone and volume, bottom tone control does nothing.
The volume control switch selects between the volume control or the thumbwheel for volume.
The tone control switch selects between the tone control or the thumbwheel for tone.
If they're both on then the thumbwheel controls both tone and volume a la De Armond pedal.
I had a certain amount of messing about in as much as the volume control is normally a log pot and the tone control is a linear pot.
I had to buy a stereo log and a stereo lin pot and swap the ends so as to make a log/lin pot.
I'll be taking the guitar to the Hankies on Tuesday for trials, I also fitted Ironstone pick-ups so I'll be interested in hearing these.
The body is alder and the neck is ebony so there's yet more delights for me to listen out for.
Tally Ho !

Sounds good! In fact it sounds like something that could be a commercial success. Can you patent it?

A neat design idea, I agree.

But why not just put in a pedal?

Those Bespeco ones cost next to nowt as shells.
