Alan Brason strat (pic heavy)

Postby Hank2k » 26 Sep 2012, 20:19

Evening all

Some of you may recall November last year Bojan posted up some very nice pics of a strat style guitar that Alan Brason had built for him, after seeing the pics and hearing Phil McGarricks I decided to contact Alan about having a guitar built. In November his waiting list was 8 months so I was added to the list and that was that. In June this year Alan emailed me and said he was ready to build the guitar I wanted and after deciding on the spec he began. I'm very pleased to say after all the waiting it is due to be delivered to me tomorrow but along the way Alan has been sending me pics of the build process and these I'd like to share with you.

It's a swamp ash 2 piece body with a birds eye maple neck but it won't be fiesta red

Will post up pics of the finished item tomorrow as soon as it arrives, feel like a kid at Christmas at the moment, Alan is a very nice bloke to deal with and if it plays as good as it looks I will be very pleased

What a beauty !!! It's nice to have those progress pictures. I didn't ask Alan to make them for me

I can hardly wait to see the finished guitar when it arrives. Alan is first class !! Pure Custom Shop quality

Why can't the custom shop get such beautiful B/E maple wood ?

Well it's finally arrived, and it's beautiful, honestly having owned both a 56 custom shop fender and a custom shop deluxe fender this knocks spots off both incredible guitar and less than half the cost.

Nobody would deny that the Fender Custom shop make some nicely figured necks John, but Alan Brason's work is at least as good and you just try comparing prices !!!!

I was simpy responding to keiths remark :-

"Why can't the custom shop get such beautiful B/E maple wood ?"

That neck, by the way, is an AA birdseye on a 56 NOS model.

That looks fantastic. I've always liked blue sunburst and am amazed so few guitars are made in that colour!
