MY NEW SURFGREEN BABY...

Picked up this one today - The brand new Squier Jaguar in Surf Green. Great one, and strange to have something else in the basement than red Strats....

Very cool guitar, great for surf.

I've heard good things about the new Squier JMs and Jags.

like that, its great to see Squier bringing out some of these guitars, the Jap and USA Fender versions were the only versions before and command a premium

A beautiful guitar.

I saw a sunburst version at Anderton's last week - and if they'd had either the Olympic White or the Surf Green finishes in stock, I'd have been £255 poorer on the spot, without a doubt.

My only reservation is to do with the pickups (no all-important stagger and no adjustment possible). I'd probably fit a pair of Catswhisker Jag90s.

JN (who will be be in Brighton on Friday and may be unable to stay away from GAK).

It plays great, I had a guitartech work with it. I have 4 Strats, and I think this one comes in on 3th place! - Behind my custom shop and the 62 reissue MIJ!

Ooooh ,nice!

I'd have a sunburst, put on 13-56 flatwounds, tune down to D and play Diamonds!

I have always fancied a Jazzmaster, but thought them a little on the expensive side, but at these Squier prices you can't say no. I already have an MIJ Jagmaster with retro-fitted Seymour Duncan P90s. I'll pop into Brum tomorrow to see if they have the Squiers in yet. I quite fancy an Olympic White with Torty scratchplate.

Hi Ecca,
Sorry I missed your post. I didn't get back online until now. Well, you can see the time. I did get to Fairdeal today at about 11.00am & had a chat with the guy who used to work at Sound Control, & now works in Fairdeal. The guy who looks like Ronnie Wood & used to play in a Faces tribute band. I checked out the new Squier VM Jazzmaster, which they only had in Surf Green, but at a silly price of £255 ! I fancied an Oly White or a Sunburst one. It seems to be quite a nice guitar for the money, like many of the upper end Squiers that are coming out of China these days. It needed a good set-up & had those boingy 9-42 strings on it, & the trem arm just flops about loosely in the socket (a push-in type). Nothing that a few wraps of PTFE tape wouldn't cure. The pickups sound OK & the action was good. It was a very lightweight guitar too. Basswood body. I might well get one at those prices. They do a similar version of the Jaguar too, in four colours. Might as well spend it, eh ? Better than getting 2% in a bank deposit.

Tony.
