Hi Alan - this will sound a daft question but did you actually buy it? You don't specifically confirm or deny it, but everyone assumes that's the case. If so, what was your top bid? Go on - tell us! Mine would have been in excess of £650, but I don't need two! :D . Interesting 'upgrades' with the valves. I wonder how it sounds in a blind test with a factory version :?:

I bought it Lionel, my first bid was £527.50 to see what the reserve was and as the auction closed at 12.10pm, there couldn't have been many watchers. The previous high bid was £410 so my bid took it to the reserve (£450) where it stayed. :D

I checked the bidding list and could see that no-one put one in for quite a while so you had a clear field - well done! I wasn't looking as I've already got a factory issue - which was delivered by hand (van) from Preston! I think it cost me £650 and was/is new, boxed with full warranty. Now you need to find someone else with a standard version to see how the sound differs.

I have heard others Lionel, but I doubt if my ears would pick up on the difference of valves. I know how I'm expecting it to sound, so we'll see soon. :D

Nor can anyone else Alan, don't lose any sleep over it and enjoy the amp for what it is. At the end of the day it's the player that delivers. Comparing the valves is normally done by folks who need an excuse for producing a poor sound. I'll grant you it's easy to hear the difference between a knackered valve and a good valve, but there it ends. ;)

I came in last night to find that the seller had refunded my money because he couldn't be bothered posting the amp. That was after him agreeing to ship (before I placed a bid), so I guess a bargain is never what it seems lol.

Ebay never give you enough options in situations like this, although I never agreed to his cancellation request (he'll need to pay eBay fees) and I left negative feedback, I don't feel that they are willing to take appropriate action in situations like this and I know that he might retaliate by leaving me negative feedback and spoil my 100% rating.

No problem, sellers can't leave negative feedback on eBay - that was changed quite a long time ago.
