Anybody experiences with an Amtec age pro echo? More analog sound than the digital stuff with EFTP patches ?

I only have experience of the Atlantis machine for comparison - for me the Atlantis has the 'vintage' edge over digital/EFTP machines, but I don't believe that too many listeners would hear the difference in a mix. I use a Quad GT and Magicstomp with EFTP as well as the Atlantis and ESE Echomatic. There really isn't much difference when comparing in a live mix through a good AC30 or AC15. IMHO it's the amp and the guitar combined with the skill of the player that determines the 'magic' tone. Unfortunately there are no 'fast track' fixes for achieving THE tone.

I have an Amtech Age Pro and a couple of EFTP loaded units and although I agree with what Dave has said, the Age Pro has a warmer sound than the digital units. In addition, it doesn't have the 'correct' echo settings (when compared with EFTP), but again 99% of the listeners couldn't tell the difference. If you can buy one at a reasonable price, they are a good buy, however the current new cost of a bit over a thousand pounds makes the eyes water.

Hi all
Hans, I dont have a Amtec but I do have a very helpfull boklet that gives all the settings for the pro.As you can see from the picture it covers all the UB Hank backing track CD's and the Shadows workout CD's up to No 4. If you do go for the Amtec Pro, new or second hand let me know and I will send you a copy.
It's a very helpful booklet.
Have you got one Allan?
Regards Geoff.

Hi Geoff, I do have a copy but find some of them not too accurate, but it's a good starting point.

Many thanks I bought one nearly new ( never gigged ) unit from a German musician last week. The book you offered me was included
in the selling price. It`s very helpful as you said.

I`m very surprised about the sound of the unit. Tested it today with my different VOX amps and my HM Signature Strats.
For me the echoes were not a little bit too brittle like others maintained in this forum. I think that in a LIVE situation it`s not easy
to differ ( for the normal audience ) if it is an Amtech / EFTP loaded unit or an ESE etc. !

Glad you like it Hans, the important thing when playing through a Vox, is to have the tone control all the way left to zero and once you work out the correct balance (between guitar, Amtech & amp), you'll get a nice sound.
