I have emailed Vox regarding providing Meazzi/Binson echoes from their DelayLab, and the reply stated 'Yes absolutely, any echo can be reproduced'.

I keep pestering our local music store to get one in so that I can try it out - but to no avail . . . yet.

A Swiss member of our French Shadows' forum already got one and posted a few tunes he recorded using it, with interesting results, but he didn't try to emulate the early Shadow's sound.

I'd be delighted with that statement from Vox if I could actually believe that they understand the machines they are talking about, maybe they do and if so it's good news. I'm still trying to get our local store to get one in . . . . .

I replied asking if the head spacings/timing etc could be reproduced for the M & B, awaiting their reply

But could it also replicate the W&F of the old Meazzi echoes, because the way I see it, that is the most important thing. I mean there are dozens of machines out there that can do multitap echoes, even the Zoom 508 has good echoes, but that still is only one component of the Meazzi sound, which we all want to achieve. So there is the multitap echoes, and the W&F, and then the way the Meazzi circuitry itself colors the sound.

Listen to Tonio playing Man of Mystery on his Meazzi Concertorama amp using a Zoom 508 for echoes. The result was astonishingly close to THAT SOUND . . .

Agreed, there is something in there that is giving a very vintage tone that pleases my ears . . . . . . .

I had a quick read at it, and although there are many possibilities, it doesn't seem that vintage Meazzi can be emulated. Which is not surprising, as it's likely that those who design such units have never heard of Meazzi echo units !...
