hi guys, i have been using the vox tonelab le for some time now with delight , i have just come across the vox delay lab , does anyone know if it can be used to create shad type echos like the tonelabs, thanks IAN

Yes, you can create all the Shadows-Echoes with Multitap or odher, is wery simple.

According to what I read on the DelayLab user manual which is available on the Vox site, you can only get some basic multitap echoes, which should be OK to emulate Roland RE 201/301 echoes as used by Hank in the eighties, but you can't emulate Meazzi early years echoes.

Hi Didier, According to the Guitarist review 'Delay times can be zeroed in to the exact millisecond' and delay time can be set by tap tempo, I'm not sure either if it will do a Meazzi echo (it says it can do a tube echo and a multitap though)

Would not suprise me that the echos are similar to the Tonelab series .

Which doesn't means at all that in multiptap mode, each tap can be set at the right delay time, as required for Meazzi emulation, regardless of tone issues...
Vox DelayLab is certainly an excellent echo unit, but it's not at all designed to emulate vintage Meazzi echo units...

A Swiss member of our French Shadows' forum already got one and posted a few tunes he recorded using it, with interesting results, but he didn't try to emulate the early Shadow's sound.

The same was said (in guitar magazine reviews) of the Line6 Echoplus (the green rack-mounted unit, not the double-size stomp-box) when it was on sale.

Nevertheless, I bought one (£250) and had Geoff Strachan programme it for me (with his "Sounds Like The Shadows" echoes). All the expected Meazzi and Binson models were there on tap... and still are, though my son uses it these days for his Les Paul=-type multitrack recordings.

Can't see why that would be different with the Vox (which is very cheap compared to the new price of an Alesis, when they were available).
