The legend has it that they used Gibson amplifiers (hired in by the promoters) for at least some of the shows on the 1961 South Africa tour. The "Live At The Colosseum" EP is said to feature the Gibson amps, though other brands may have been used for some venues.

There is no known film footage of the Johannesburg concert, and SA didn't have television at the time.
