[quote="Donna_Plasky"]Hi, Hugh. In my paranoid quest to look for things that will help me play better, I have been all over the internet and I found a website called GuitarFetish.com  . Any way, here is a link to a section I found on hard tail bridges, etc. I will be the first to admit that I have no idea what I am talking about, but I thought I'd send you this link in case it is related to whatever you are looking for. I guess this is an alternate way of freezing the tremolo bridge, and it might not be what you want any way.

If I am totally off-base and this is not what you were talking about, please please excuse me. I don't mean to interfere. I just happened to have this website on my screen when I read your message.

What I'm looking for is a magical spell that can make me play the guitar nicely...snap your fingers, and presto...I can play the guitar. I haven't found any websites that sell magical spells, however.

Kind regards,
Donna

Naughty girl! The only thing that will make you play better is to PRACTICE!! Now stop shopping for guitar parts on the internet and get back to the guitar! :D
p.s. Are you learning chords as well solo playing?

Hi, John. You are absolutely right, I need to learn chords. I think I've found something that will help me. I just bought a "Guitar Chord Deck" (photo below) published by Hal Leonard Corporation. It's a deck of cards with one chord illustrated on each card and related info on the back of the card. It is "life size" as far as the headstock and the first four frets...looks just like an acoustic guitar. This deck of cards is a lot easier to understand than some of my chord charts.

This brings back memories of grammar school, when we had flash cards to learn our "times tables" -- basic multiplication. So instead of asking me "What is 2 x 4?" you can someday ask me "What does a G7 look like?" Hopefully I'll know what to play it without having to say, "Wait a second, let me find that page in the book..."

Thanks for the good advice.

Kind regards,
Donna

Chords is everything.
More to the point learning how to construct chords, what notes constitute 6ths , 9ths, maj 7ths etc.
You should aim to identify every note at whichever fret it's at on the fretboard.
These are 2 of my fundamentals.

You should see him at Hankies when he wears his shorts in the summer months Donna.

His fundamentals are certainly prominent. :o :D

I'm off into Glasgow tommorow to hopefully get a steel block for the trem, the shop says they have some in stock but I need to take the original one with me as they differ in screw spacings apparantly. As previously said, if the brass was any good, it would get loads of mentions in here, so I'll give that idea a miss.

Incidentally, I saw an ad for brass claws for the trem system and they claimed it made quite a difference to the tone, it certainly made quite a difference to the price by comparison to the original :o So thats a no no too
