I never mentionned Hank's action ! :lol:

But according to what I read, Hank complained about the high action of his Antoria guitar, and was delighted wite the Start that Cliff bought for him in 1959, it was much easier to play !

Unfortunatly, there was no one to buy me a Strat at this time... :cry:

Hi Neil,

i only used that aspect in conjunction with my Horowitz example in saying, that even normal or good guitar players have to get accustomed to Hanks Guitars settings and one of that is the high action. It forces partly to hit the strings harder and probably in a different way;(as allan Killop has stated in another tread) It maybe one of the reasons of that sound. but: There is no one single aspect/ ingredient to "That sound", as it is a combination or even better it is a system with interrelated elements.
