Does anyone else wish that amps these days for guitars etc had more provision for plugging in more than one guitar or bass?
Years ago, most single channel amps used to have at least two inputs, a two channel amp had two inputs in each channel (e.g. most Fender amps), and three channel amps had six inputs in three channels..(e.g. Vox AC30) The multi-channel jobs often even had separate volume and tone controls for each channel also.
Even most bass amps had an extra input for a normal guitar or another bass ..
Many of these multi-channel amps these days have two, three and even four channels but only ONE bloody input! And they usually have only one 'clean' channel and the other channels only give various amounts of distortion...whether you want it or not.
I suppose it used to be expected by amp designers and makers that people would share amps, especially young players with little money, and these amps were far more convenient for practices, jams, parties etc and transport generally.
OK, I know, I'm living in the past.
