Interesting comments from Jim and Neil. Alan McK used his XD at our last gig (a charity 'do' in a hotel ballroom) and had no problems being heard over drums, bass and my Valvetronix. The point of acquiring one was to replace the Vox which is a bit heavy to lug around so going for a bigger Fender than the Super Champ wouldn't address that need...

On the back burner in the meantime.

I think it cuts through fine, although Jim Geddes is a gentleman drummer, their are those who'd bash the skins in such away that you wouldn't be heard. As we play the early Shads stuff, no drum bashin' there, the SC XD does fine.
G, bring the Vox next Saturday and we can compare volumes.

Afraid we had a heavy handed drummer and lead player with a 100 watt Marshall 4 x 12! We played 60s and I played mainly rhythm, but did a few shads lead numbers - the XD just wasnt loud enough! I did protest we were often too loud but it fell on deaf ears! If you cant plug the XD into a PA and your not bothered about "that sound" Id go for a tranny amp to save weight. Ive just had a Peavy Bandit 80w which if fine both lead and rhythm.

Looks as though it's just the same as the XD, with deep edit facilities via your PC, like the G-Dec and Mustang range of amps.
