No, I haven't tried them, Noel, so all this is all new, very interesting, and encouraging for me. Thank you, all.

By way of an update, I used the Line 6 system last night with the band and that's done it... no more cables for me. as good as the best of cables and the darned thing shows that nothing will stop it working, even to the point of going out of the hall, closing the door and walking into he car park the sound was still, dare I say, better than a cable.
No noise when turning on the transmitter, no interference, just pure guitar sound

Great piece of kit

Take care

Thanks for that Peter. That was one question I was going to ask regarding the noise when switching the transmitter on and off. Does it have an on/off switch, or does it rely on pushing the jack in and out and also, what type of battery does it use and is the battery lifetime OK.

Hi Lee,
It takes 2 AA batteries and Line 6 say that the batteries should last around 8 hours. there is a switch on the transmitter it is totally silent in operation, you can get the transmitters separately so you can set two to the same channel for when you change guitars.
hope this helps

I would be interested to know if the Line 6 allows a DeArmond Volume/Tone pedal to function correctly - my own regular analogue wireless systems (Samson & T-Bone) don't allow the tone sweep to operate. It would be worth a punt for me if the digital status of the Line 6 made the difference.

Dave, on my first, normal, wireless system, my volume/tone pedal wouldn't work. I now only use a volume pedal, and with the Line 6 Digital System and that works fine, but I suspect that your vol/tone pedal wouldn't (I believe this is a problem with any wireless system and tone pedals). Charlie Hall once explained it to me but I can't remember the details.

Hi Dave,
Bring it to Doncaster next time and we can try it

Wireless system

I have been reading up on electrical wiring for stage and studio and risks associated with reversed polarity in outlets and lack of ground wires. An important advantage of wireless systems is that they reduce the risk of electrocution markedly! I must look at them more seriously.

Line 6 Wireless system

Postby abstamaria » 01 Feb 2014, 06:25

Here’s our bass guitarist Anna using a Line 6 wireless lead last weekend. She uses an amp across the room, the tweed Bassman seen to the right. It cuts the clutter of lines on the floor. Sounds really good, too. We can’t tell the difference between it and a cable.

Both Myself on bass And our lead guitarist have been using the Line 6 Wireless system live on stage
for the past 12 months or so.
i cant fault it.
no change in sound dynamics to a lead
no interfearance, no drop outs or nasty crackles etc , easy to set up, fits in your guitar case
i have also been using it with rechargeable AA batteries which also work fine.
