There are several advantages in having two speakers and they have already been mentioned :-

Increased bottom end, better sound dispersion, and a percieved increase in volume. The only disadvantages are increased weight and cabinet size (and cost !).

Only if the speakers are one above the other, not side by side...

I had a Peavey Bandit rated at 80w RMS with a 12". The wattage goes up to 100w if a well matched extension speaker is connected. This is a claim and recommendation by Peavey. In short, louder sounds should be expected with amps that come with extension speaker outs.

Very much appreciate the advice! However, the delivery and return charges for an amp from UK to Oz would still be a bit outside my present budget! (and they would say 'Bill who?"):roll:
