Excellent documentary could have been longer to include info about the lead up to the 2004/2005 Final tour after the 14 year break since they toured in 1990 they all looked fantastic it would have been great to see all of them together Hank Bruce and Brian all at Abbey Road together for one last time I would hope for a final EP together the last few songs and Brian's autobiography to close the chapter on the shadows story I don't think anyone would expect a tour again maybe a short EP and Dvd playing a few songs together would be fab but overall a good documentary without other celebs constantly interrupting just focused on the shads with a few words from Cliff excellent hours show

First time I’ve heard Bruce say that he stole the guitar from Cliff, even if it was tongue in cheek. I still have an interview he did for Guitarist magazine some years ago, and in it he claimed that whilst he was at Cliffs home discussing the success that he had when Bruce produced some of his music, he asked Bruce if there was anything he could do for him? Bruce said he asked about the original strat and if he still had it, he’d take it off his hands. Cliff went into a cupboard and brought it out and gave it to Bruce, by which time it had been resprayed White and despite the continued controversy over its ownership, I don’t see Bruce giving it up.

Show more 11 months left to watch 59 minutes.

A look back at the incredible success of The Shadows as they celebrate their 60th anniversary. Starting from where they began as The Drifters to then becoming the backing band for Cliff Richard and enjoying huge success in their own right, the programme celebrates The Shadows’ achievements across a time of constant change within the social, cultural and musical landscape.

The Shadows were at the forefront of the UK beat boom generation and the first backing group to emerge as big stars in their own right. Using unseen archive, personal testimony and interviews with the band, along with those they influenced, including Brian May, David Gilmour, Pete Townshend, The Shadows at Sixty is not just a trip down memory lane, but an in-depth, often emotional story of a group’s journey through six decades.

Those sixty minutes seemed to pass very quickly! Finally, that clip, brief as it was, of Feeling Fine from Oh Boy, and I wonder how much more there is of Hank's home movie footage of South Africa. A particular highlight for me was of Bruce at Abbey Road with Brian playing Apache on acoustic guitar!

Perhaps, a contribution from Licorice would have made for a fuller picture of the earlier days but, all in all, I reckon a pretty good effort.

I thought it was quite good, I suspect most Shadows fans would want more, but it was better than I feared it might be. As you say Hank getting a bit emotional, and as regards 34346, I recall Cliff saying in a documentary some while ago that although he had lent it to Bruce if he was going to give it to anyone it would be Hank. I suspect Hank probably isn't that bothered as it only featured in one part of a long career, and he played many other guitars. It us that have elevated it to mythical status

Clearly, 34346 means far more to Bruce, in sentimental terms, than Hank, if the ending is anything to go by!
