Los Straitjackets

I first heard of this California-based group in the late nineties, but apart from seeing and hearing hearing the fantastic Indra Rajah doing a couple of their numbers at Pipeline and Tilburg, I didn't hear any more of them until I saw them play live at Deke Dickerson's Guitar Geeks' Festival in 2012 and 2013.

They are a fantastic live act with a real feel for early sixties instros and surf music and a humorous presentation and stage presence. For anyone wanting a sample, here's a three-song set from a live performance in a Chicago street in 2000. Songs are (the wonderful) Pacifica, Tempest and Casbah.

Enjoy.

Really enjoyed that Jim - as you say they put on a good act as well as being competent guitarists.

Yes a great surf rock band. They played a gig in Glasgow some years back to a small but appreciative audience.
George G will remember this too I am sure!!!
Bit like asking the Lone Ranger for an autograph , er which one are you mate!!!
Arnie Hammer I certainly wont be asking for his!!!

Indeed I do, Mike. Superb live act. Ian Finlay took a photo of me with one of them - I think is was Eddie...

I must try and find it...

It's quite sad, here and on other videos, how people can walk by in the background , apparently oblivious to the music and musicians. Poor sods obviously have something much more important and interesting to get back to, like a hot spreadsheet at the office!
