Kate Bush

Postby drakula63 » 21 Mar 2014, 15:49

It was with some incredulity that I discovered today that Kate Bush is to play live again for the first time in 35 years - May 1979 to be precise - and at the very same venue at which her live video was recorded. The Hammersmith Odeon! or whatever it's called now!!!

Doubtless a musical genius and not an easy one to pigeonhole, as she seemed to be virtually everything from Goth/punk to Prog Rock. I just tried to get onto her website, but it was impossible, due I'm sure to all the internet traffic going that way!!! She's left it a long time, but, hey, it's 1979 again! And that was one of my favourite years.

Bet the tickets sell out in seconds though!!!

Good luck Kate.

I remember Hank Marvin introducing Kate Bush on an awards show around 1980. Kid Jensen was presenting and he asked Hank if he had any idea why there was a lack of female recording stars at the time. Hank replied that it was probably due to the lack of female recording stars! Then he said, "and the award goes to...Wow! It's Kate Bush".

According to Kate Bush's website (which I was able to get on to!), this venue is now called the Eventim Apollo.

I gather the tickets sold out in about fifteen minutes. Oh well, have to wait until they come up on ebay at ten times their asking price...

No doubt she'll record a live DVD and Blu-ray.
