Many years back I had an EV. Can't remember the model number but it was Matt grey and took an battery in the shaft. Much preferred to the SM58 I was using previously.

You're too big for that guitar. Do you still have it. What year was it

Hi Billy, no, do not have it now. Wish I did, great pickups. I part ex't it for a Sunburst Telecaster in Barrets in Cardiff in 1965. Do not know what year it was, didn' t matter in those days. I still have the Tele which is a 1964, it's been various colours since then. Put some spray on the selector
switch which melted the plastic. Tried taking the cover off front pickup which broke the windings. Put a Gibson PAF on instead because front pickup sounded too muffled, then found out that the original wiring had a cap on neck position. Then chiselled out the body to take a coiled tap humbucker in middle position. If only I knew then what I know now. :o  :o :(

I think your Sonic was 1960 / 61 as it has the maple fingerboard. I stripped my sunburst 1961 Jazzmaster sunburst in 1990 and sprayed it Fiesta Red. I stripped my early 60s Epiphone Rivoli and stained it Green. Silly boy. Never mind not many green ones around

I watched Chas and Dave Christmas Knees up last night. I had seen this a few years back and forgotten that Clapton and Albert Lee played in the pub with them. Particularly unusual was seeing Clapton singing and playing Goodnight Irene.
