I recently watched Some People on DVD and realised that the church hall featured in it is the one just up the road from me. It was great to see Bristol back in '62 as I only came here in 1988.
I posted a comment on Anneke Wills's website saying how much I had enjoyed the film and the trip down memory lane and a couple of a weeks later I received in the post a photo of her with a handwritten thank-you note on it.
A lovely lady indeed.

Ahhh, that's really nice. Yes, she is a lovely person. I have just listened to the audio version of her book, 'Self Portrait', and it does indeed paint a very vivid picture of her early life and in particular the many ups and downs of living in London during the swinging sixties! Sadly, the book finishes at about the 1970-mark. Having said that, I gather that she has recently published vol 2, which covers the tumultuous and life changing decisions and experiences of the 1970s/80s. Having heard a little about this period from the lady herself I am sure that the book will be every bit as rivetting as the first - possibly more so.

Don't forget, she will be appearing in Derby on Saturday August 31st at the Quad Media Centre for those of you who are close to Derby and would like to see her. I shall be there!!!

I'd love to be there too but I have tickets to see the Rutles (Neil Innes & co) in Bristol. Seen them before and they are excellent. Give my regards to Anneke!
