Mention of the Eagles reminds me that i actually knew their lead guitarist, Terry Clarke, in the late 70s/early 80s but had no idea who he was, as it was only years later I found out all the Eagles' names! He was quite active at that time building guitars, which was something he had been doing for years. Indeed, the Eagles' appearance at the final of a Duke of Edinburgh's Award 'Battle of the Bands' championship almost didn't take place, because the guitar he was meant to be using was in an adjacent hall being judged for a craft competition! He retrieved it just in time.

Ha! Me and my mates do that too! I guess it's the Goons/Python (and Shads?) humour shining through. Fenny Compton is a village near us... I imagine he'd be a Lord, perhaps an infamous accountant herder of notable esteem? By the way, for anybody into this sort of humour, check out 'I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again'. Very, very funny!
It's not just place names... Nectarine or Aubergine are, potentially, outstanding first names. There is no end to this... a name that has just appeared in my mind is
Catalytic Strove-Stripper!
:D

Seeing that picture of Anneke Wills prompted me to have a look at the DVD recorded in 2005 in Derby. Can't believe it was that long ago! I had the great pleasure of interviewing her at the monthly Whoovers meeting - she played 'Polly' in Doctor Who during the latter part of the William Hartnell era and the beginning of the Patrick Troughton era. I am pleased to report that she was absolutely LOVELY!!! Here's a screen grab...

I note with some alarm that I have less hair now than I did eight years ago, although a greater percentage of it is grey. Oh for a TARDIS...

"Radio's first full-frontal show", scripted by Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie - happy memories!
